Angy Che is an artist and designer based in Austin, Texas. Her current sumi ink series explores how the imperfection of memories can inspire the process of abstracting imagery. Each painting starts intuitively without a plan, and unfolds as the serendipitous movement of ink and water guide her through the articulation of form and composition. For Angy, painting is a way to explore her external and internal worlds, where memory collides with the present moment to create a new image from nothing.
The graphic nature of her paintings is influenced by over a decade of experience working as a Designer and Illustrator. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration at ArtCenter College of Design in California and a Postgraduate Certificate in Typeface Design from Cooper Union. Her work has been commissioned for, and exhibited in several private and commercial collections.
